Actually just finished up a session of C&C (I had to leave the group for a time due to work obligations) not long ago and probably had the most fun I've had in while.
I've also converted my 5e campaign to C&C for when we finish the current campaign another DM is running.
So, I've got a lot to look forward to. I've built up my keep from the ashes of this culture war and I'm defending it against all that would attempt to ruin it.
That's the thing that I love most about C&C is that it has just about everything I'm looking for. Almost.
No system is perfect, however, there's close, so close and If I Didn't Love You I'd Tell You To Back Up Or Buy Me Dinner and right now, Troll Lord Games and Elf Lair Games both hit me with that.
With Troll Lord Games, that's a point I don't need to belabor but with Elf Lair Games, they have two games, soon to be three that you can carry your character over but there's a trick to it. You start with Wasted Lands: The Dreaming Age. This is a fantasy game with Eldritch Horror Elements and if your character survives the campaign, then you're solid gold and your character, through an odd game of telephone through the centuries becomes one of the gods of modern myth. From there you transition into Night Shift: Veterans of The Supernatural Wars (be sure to have the Night Companion on hand) and use the same character in the Immortal Class. If your character makes it through that, then you can do sci-fi with Thirteen Parsecs. The great thing about O.G.R.E.S. (Old-school Generic Role-playing Engine System) is that you can take any rule set you want, plug-and-play and not worry about it. Personally, B/X would be my go-to as it's the simplest and most accessible to players completely new to the game and the Codeces Series from TLG, that's something you can still use for that game since you'll be playing as the gods OR a character guided by the gods, wherever you may be in the world at that time.
If you get a chance, that's another system I recommend and, if Wasted Lands sells well, they're still planning on doing a SIEGE Engine conversion system which is great because then you can just plug and play SIEGE Engine into the game itself and give your sword & sorcery game a new layer in which to fuck around.
With TLG, I'm almost a full bookshelf deep and thanks to your recommendation, got both Night Shift and Wasted Lands. Though the way I'm running it is a bit different, using Wasted Lands to build worlds that will be involved for my C&C setting, with a mix of Planet Apocalypse of course.
I've got my eye on Thirteen Parsecs, but where that goes, well, we'll just have to see.
Nice! Honestly I can't wait to see how Thirteen Parsecs comes out. The Revision on Starship Warden oughtta be good too. Really, in all honesty, Probably won't re-buy SW but I do wanna get Amazing Adventures: Starsiege in print.
I'm a bit late to the party on the Starship Warden front, I am aware of it but haven't been able to acquire it, yet anyway. I'll wait and see what happens.
Isn't Amazing Adventures also getting a rework to remove the OGL stuff? Perhaps my info is wrong. I have AA in print and Starsiege in PDF.
Amazing Adventures has already been revised but the one they featured on IndieGoGo did need to have all the OGL stuff removed, if memory serves. I have the older AA right now with no plans on updating. I know Codex of Airhde got updated but I haven't updated my copy of it.
They got me twice though. When they sold The A Series for $2 a shot, I bought all that they had left and started going through them when I realized that I already had them...in the Aufstrag Boxed Sets. I ain't mad though. Those smaller books are good to have as spares.
